The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST™) Consortium was created in 2010 to position New York State as a global leader in energy storage technology, including applications in transportation, grid storage, and power electronics. The Consortium's membership is diverse and includes manufacturers, academic institutions, utilities, technology and materials developers, start-ups, government entities, engineering firms, systems integrators, and end-users.

NY-BEST serves as an expert resource to energy storage-related companies and organizations seeking assistance to grow their businesses in New York State.  This includes access to financing, research capabilities, potential partners, technology developers, manufacturers, and other private sector and government resources.  NY-BEST serves as an important connector in establishing a strong energy storage “ecosystem” encompassing all stages of energy storage product development and use.

For startup companies, NY-BEST has a program known as BRIDGE (Business Resources to Innovate, Develop, Grow, and Excel). Through this program companies can receive one-on-one support from NY-BEST’s experts in a variety of business areas as well as access to NY-BEST’s pilot manufacturing and testing facilities, located in Rochester, NY. These services are provided at no cost to companies, and are the result of a grant from National Grid to accelerate the growth of energy storage companies in New York State. This program should be viewed as supplemental to participation in other incubators, and we encourage companies already in other incubators to consider the BRIDGE Program as an additional resource.

There are only 3 requirements for eligibility: physical location in New York State, company must be in the energy storage industry, and within 1 year of acceptance to the program companies must become members of NY-BEST. More information on the BRIDGE Program and NY-BEST can be found on our website, and we encourage you to reach out to bridge@ny-best.org for more information.
